YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. (AP) - New York’s largest state park pool has a new entrance plaza and bathhouse.

The opening of the $3.6 million facility at Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park in Yorktown Heights was announced Friday.

Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park, located 40 miles north of New York City, contains the an acre-sized pool that the state says can hold up to 3,500 people at once. The pool is open from late June through Labor Day.

The bathhouse includes new restrooms, lighting, lockers and benches, along with a system that uses solar power to heat the water used in the building.

The state paid half of the $3.6 million price tag, with the U.S. Department of the Interior covering the rest.
