SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - A mother who says she was asked to breast-feed her child in a bathroom at a public pool in Spokane organized a “nurse-in” to highlight the rights of breast-feeding mothers.
Lydia Davis says about a dozen mothers brought their children to the pool on Friday.
The mother tells The Spokesman-Review (https://bit.ly/1OneYrK ) that she believes people need to understand the law, which allows breast-feeding in public. She says nobody should feel ashamed to feed a hungry child.
A spokeswoman for the city’s Parks and Recreation Department says staff at the pool were trained on the law soon after as Davis alerted administrators to the incident.
