OSAGE, Iowa (AP) - The National Weather Service has confirmed that a weak tornado hit a northern Iowa farmstead earlier in the week.

The Mason City Globe Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1Omvicb ) that the small tornado damaged farmstead buildings and crops Thursday night in rural Mitchell County.

The weather service says the tornado had an estimated peak wind speed of 83 mph and was on the ground about two minutes along a 2.1-mile path southwest of Osage.

Multiple trees also were uprooted or snapped, and some power lines were knocked down.
