COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Veterans, military service members and personnel are being honored in Ohio for their service with a day of special activities.

The Ohio History Connection says activities for Saturday’s military appreciation day at the Ohio History Center in Columbus include military-themed tabletop games and special tours of the center’s Follow the Flag exhibit.

The event also formally marks the start of a call for donations of military memorabilia. The Ohio History Connection is launching a new effort to preserve and showcase Ohio’s military past through a memorabilia collection. The organization is encouraging donations of items and stories from current and past military service members and their families.

The organization says admission to the military appreciation day is free for military members, veterans, employees of Defense Supply Center Columbus and their families.
