ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Police say one person is dead after an early-morning shooting at a sober club in Anchorage.
The Alaska Dispatch News reports (https://bit.ly/1IaxmTT ) that the shooting was around 1:20 a.m. Saturday at the Alano Club. Anchorage police would only identify the victim as male.
The sober club is known as a longtime Anchorage hangout for recovering alcoholics and a late-night weekend dance spot for teenagers.
Michael Cooper says he was volunteering at the club Friday night when he heard gunfire. He initially thought there was a shooting in the parking lot, but then saw a body lying in the middle of the dance floor under the disco ball.
In 2009, an 18-year-old was critically injured after being shot in the head in the parking lot outside Alano.
