SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Police say a woman is being charged after she allegedly shot her ex-husband in the chest at his luxury home in north Scottsdale.

Scottsdale police said Saturday that 59-year-old Rhonda Cerny has been booked on charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault and burglary and criminal trespass.

The victim is recovering in a hospital.

They say Cerny entered the home Friday afternoon while the couple’s adult daughter was outside.

She allegedly pulled out a small caliber handgun and shot the victim after a verbal exchange.

The daughter immediately called 911.

Police say there is no indication that Cerny was justified in firing her weapon or that the daughter knew that her mother had a gun.

It was not known if Cerny had an attorney.
