BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development says the speed limit on portions of I-10 and I-12 in the Baton Rouge area will be raised after improvements were made to the roadways.

Starting Monday, crews will begin installing signage reflecting the speed limit changes on each section of roadway. The changes include:

- I-10 from Essen to Siegen from 60 mph to 65 mph

- I-12 from Sherwood to Range from 60 mph to 65 mph

- I-12 from Range to Walker from 60 mph to 70 mph

The road improvements are part of the Geaux Wider Program, a $341 million multi-year construction initiative designed to increase capacity. Three of four projects are completed. The last section - I-12 from Walker to Satsuma - is slated for completion this summer.
