BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A $3,000 reward is being offered for help in locating whoever’s responsible for vandalizing logging equipment in south Ouachita Parish.

The state Department of Agriculture and Forestry and the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office say someone entered a logging site last weekend, about 10 miles south of Monroe, and caused about $50,000 in damage. Authorities say vandals cut hydraulic hoses on a John Deere loader, broke the windshield and gauges on a log truck and poured dirt in the fuel tank and engine block.

The wires on a John Deere loader/processor were shorted out and the wires to the trailer scale system were cut. In addition, an Ingersoll Rand pneumatic grinder and a curved Turkish blade machete were stolen.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact 225-925-4500.
