CLOVIS, N.M. (AP) - Clovis police have charged a man with murder in the stabbing death of another man.

Police said Friday they served a warrant for a murder charge on 24-year-old Jonathan Cruz after months of investigation.

Cruz is being held in a Roosevelt County jail without bond.

According to police, Chavez was found March 8 in a front yard with a stabbing wound to his upper left chest. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Investigators recovered evidence from Cruz’s home and arrested him the day of the killing, but only for evidence tampering and conspiracy.

Police, District Attorney’s Office investigators and the Curry County Sheriff’s Office conducted additional interviews in the months after and identified Cruz as a suspect.

It was not known if he had an attorney.
