PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities have identified the man Phoenix police shot and killed who was allegedly holding his ex-girlfriend hostage in her home.

Police spokesman Trent Crump says in an email Sunday that the man was Kevin Thomas Snyder, 46. Crump’s statement did not provide any other information about Snyder.

The shooting happened around 9 a.m. Saturday at a house near 43rd Avenue and Northern.

Crump says the suspect followed the victim home around 1 a.m. and kept her trapped inside for several hours. The victim triggered a silent alarm that alerted authorities.

Crump says officers were able to get her out of the house and a police dog found the suspect in a laundry room of another home.

The suspect allegedly took out a revolver and at least one officer fired a shot.

The suspect returned fire. Several officers then shot him.

No officers were injured.
