JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Department of Education headquarters is temporarily closed for cleanup after a nearby fire started the building’s sprinkler system.

Department spokeswoman Patrice Guilfoyle says water accumulated Sunday on the second floor of the former Central High School in downtown Jackson.

She says department employees who usually work in the building are asked to work from home at least Monday through Wednesday.

The fire happened Sunday between the Marriott hotel and the education building.
