NEWPORT, Mich. (AP) - The Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge is hosting an open house at its Brancheau Unit featuring cool treats for visitors.

The event billed as “Sundaes on a Sunday” takes place at the Swan Creek Boat Club in Newport.

Visitors can learn about the Brancheau Unit and how water management techniques are used for controlling invasive species.

Afterward, ice cream from Independent Dairy will be served.

The Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge includes more than 5,800 acres along 48 miles of the lower Detroit River and western Lake Erie.
