TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a man who was hit by a car at a Tempe bus stop has lost his leg.

Tempe fire officials say the incident happened shortly before 5:30 a.m. Sunday on Priest Drive between US 60 and Baseline Road.

They say the vehicle that hit the victim rolled over. A man and woman inside the car suffered minor injuries.

Tempe police say the injuries to the pedestrian’s leg were quite severe and it had to be amputated.

Police do not know yet if driver impairment played a role in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.

Priest Drive had to be closed for several hours.
