GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - Hundreds of members of the North Carolina National Guard are training in an unusual location - on the grounds of a fuel tank farm in Greensboro.

Area media outlets report the three-day exercise at the Colonial Pipeline tank farm that began on Friday allows the Guard and members of other local and federal law agencies to prepare for dealing disasters whether caused by man or natures.

Guard spokesman Lt. Col. Matt DeVivo says the Guard’s Rapid Reaction Force has to be ready to respond quickly to a call from the governor.

He says the force has trained in such places as airports and ports and aided the state during the Democratic National Convention held in Charlotte.
