ATLANTA (AP) - Federal officials say a Georgia public housing authority will use more than $52,000 in funding to provide rental assistance for homeless veterans.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development said in a statement Monday that the VA ‘s Supportive Housing Program is awarding Georgia Residential Finance $52,039 to provide 10 vouchers for veterans in need of rental assistance in the Dublin area.

Officials say the program offers rental assistance from HUD and support services from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. HUD officials say about 90,000 homeless veterans have been served through the rental assistance program since 2008.

The award is the department’s second round of funding for 2015. HUD officials say $65 million was awarded in April to help more than 9,300 homeless veterans find permanent housing.
