TOWN OF WHEATLAND, Wis. (AP) - Authorities say a 9-year-old boy is in critical care after he was pulled from the Mississippi River in Wisconsin’s Vernon County.

The Wisconsin State Journal (https://bit.ly/1JrO0uJ ) reports authorities responded to a call about a missing boy at the beach at Blackhawk Park around 12:20 p.m. Sunday. Deputies from the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office learned the boy was found by people searching the water, and CPR was performed on the boy at the scene.

The sheriff’s office said the boy was “listed in critical care” at a La Crosse hospital. His name was not released.
