BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) - A candlelit vigil has been held to commemorate the tragic balcony collapse in Berkeley that killed six students and injured seven.

KNTV-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1OqOcPi ) that the vigil held Sunday evening brought together fellow Irish students and families of the surviving victims.

The Irish Consulate in San Francisco and Irish Immigration Center also hosted a reception for medical staff and first responders who helped out immediately following the collapse.

Six students were killed and seven others were hospitalized when the apartment balcony collapsed during a birthday party on June 16. Five of the dead students were from Ireland.

The city has recently approved new balcony and safety inspection regulations.
