SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (AP) - Police are trying to determine the cause of a weekend motorcycle crash in the city of Schenectady that killed a local couple.

Officials say the motorcycle was traveling on Erie Boulevard in downtown Schenectady around 6 p.m. Saturday when it struck a sign post.

A man and a woman were transported to area hospitals and pronounced dead later that night.

Police on Monday identified the victims as 55-year-old Bryan Blomgren and his 57-year-old wife, Cynthia, of neighboring Rotterdam.

The accident occurred just outside Wolff’s Biergarten, a German-style beer garden on State Street. Witnesses say they heard the crash but didn’t know what had caused it.
