HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) - A northern New Jersey man has pleaded not guilty to charges that he raped and strangled his ex-girlfriend while their baby slept in a nearby crib.

The Record (https://bit.ly/1KgUyPD) reports that a lawyer for 24-year-old Mark Spatucci, of Midland Park, entered his plea Monday during a brief court hearing in Hackensack.

Spatucci is charged with murder, sexual assault, child endangerment and other crimes in the October 2013 killing of 23-year-old Mary Greff, who was found dead at her parents’ Waldwick home. Authorities have said Spatucci climbed through a window, sexually assaulted Greff and strangled her before fleeing out the same window.

Their 9-month-old baby wasn’t harmed.

Spatucci remains jailed on $2 million bail. He did not address the court during the hearing.
