MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) - A man who assaulted a former Wall Street Journal and Missoulian reporter, costing him the sight in one of his eyes, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison with five years suspended.

The Missoulian reports (https://goo.gl/SBXEQy ) 31-year-old Sean Lee Marceau was sentenced Monday for the Aug. 24 attack outside a Walmart in Missoula that left Les Gapay, then 70, blind in one eye.

After fleeing the scene, Marceau disappeared and was finally arrested in November. He pleaded guilty in May to felony aggravated assault.

In court Monday, Marceau apologized to Gapay, saying “what I did, there’s no excuse for it.”

District Judge Robert Deschamps called the attack unprovoked, unjustified and vicious.
