READING, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say an eastern Pennsylvania police officer shot and wounded two people after their car collided with a police vehicle during a pursuit.

Police and prosecutors in Berks County said an officer responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle just before 11 p.m. Sunday and a low-speed chase ensued.

Officials said the officer followed the vehicle to a dead-end road in Lower Alsace Township, and opened fire after the two cars collided.

Police said the 17-year-old driver was hit four times and remains in Reading Hospital. The 18-year-old passenger was hit once and was treated and released.

Police said a loaded handgun was found in the vehicle, but the suspects fired no shots. The driver is facing robbery and stolen property charges.

Authorities said police and prosecutors are investigating.
