CINCINNATI (AP) - The Reds put reliever Manny Parra on the 15-day disabled list Monday with a sore elbow, leaving them without a left-hander in the bullpen other than closer Aroldis Chapman for a four-game series against the Chicago Cubs.

Parra’s elbow was sore after he pitched Sunday in a 5-3, 11-inning loss to Cleveland. He was diagnosed with a strain. Parra is 1-1 with a 4.00 ERA in 24 appearances.

The Reds called up right-hander Dylan Axelrod, who has spent the season in the minors. The Reds got him from the White Sox for cash last July. He made four starts and one relief appearance for Cincinnati, going 2-1 with a 2.95 ERA.

He’ll go into the bullpen as a long reliever for now.
