DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say a thief used a man’s handsaw to menace him outside his garage in Des Moines.

The Des Moines Register reports (https://dmreg.co/1HL7WZm ) that the 58-year-old victim told officers the thief was holding the victim’s handsaw and a string trimmer when the thief left the victim’s garage on Saturday night. The victim says he confronted the thief, who threw down the trimmer, made a sawing motion at the victim and demanded $20.

Police say the victim backed up and told the thief he didn’t have any money. Another man came from an alleyway and told the thief they should leave. They did.

No arrests have been reported.
