SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah (AP) - Police say a 13-year-old boy was shot in the leg near a South Salt Lake gas station.

Lt. Darin Sweeten of the South Salt Lake Police Department says the boy and two other juveniles were walking along the street when they noticed a silver car that seemed to be following them.

The boy and his friends began arguing with juveniles in the silver car. Police say a passenger in the car then fired several shots at the group outside and one hit the 13-year-old boy on the leg.

The juveniles went to the Maverik gas station to get help. The bullet had grazed the boy on his left thigh. Sweeten says he was treated at Intermountain Medical Center and quickly released.
