DENMARK, Maine (AP) - Fire officials say two people were injured after a home and surrounding property were hit at least twice by lightning in Maine.

The Portland Press Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1SyPKHl ) both victims were injured Sunday evening in Denmark.

Fire Chief Dana Costello says the first victim was sitting in his car when lightning struck a utility pole, causing it to fall onto the vehicle.

When a firefighter attempted to help the motorist onto a porch, the home was hit by lightning, injuring the firefighter.

Costello didn’t identify the victims.

She says neither victim suffered a direct lightning hit. They were treated at Bridgton Hospital and released.
