BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Four men have been arrested for alleged oyster harvesting violations in Terrebonne Parish.

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Division agents on Sunday arrested 35-year-old Samuel Dobson, 22-year-old Spencer Callahan and 37-year-old Dean Porche, all of Houma; and 42-year-old Luciano Desendez, of San Leon, Texas, for taking oysters during a closed season on the Sister Lake Public Oyster Seed Reservation.

The captain of the vessel, Dobson, also was cited for violating log book and running light requirements.

Agents on patrol July 19 stopped a vessel actively dredging for oysters and found the men with two sacks of oysters. The agents seized the vessel, oyster dredges and returned the oysters to the water.

Taking oysters during a closed season brings up to a $950 fine and 120 days in jail.
