MOFFATT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say the body of a 65-year-old man who disappeared while swimming over the weekend has been found in a lake in the northeastern Lower Peninsula.

Arenac County Sheriff James Mosciski tells The Bay City Times that Dennis N. Paulson dive from a pontoon and was trying to get back to it Sunday evening when he had trouble breathing and sank in Forest Lake.

The site is in Moffatt Township, about 40 miles north of Bay City.

WNEM-TV reports the swimmer’s wife was on the boat and apparently turned around to throw him a life jacket, but he was already gone.

Dive teams were hampered by deep and murky waters as they searched the lake about 130 miles northwest of Detroit. The body was found on Monday afternoon.
