DETROIT (AP) - A man who authorities say fatally beat his 46-year-old female housemate, then got help dumping her battered body along a road in a neighboring Detroit suburb, has been sent to prison.

Court records say Terrance Johnson of Westland was sentenced this month to 28 to 60 years in prison after earlier pleading guilty to second-degree murder.

Prosecutors say Johnson and Randy Batts of Detroit fatally beat Diedra Akins at her Westland home in January. On Monday, Batts pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. The Detroit Free Press reports Batts is expected to serve between 22 and 60 years.

His sentencing is Aug. 5.

Authorities say Michael Bashlor and Joshua Hurston-Herron helped dispose of Akins’ body in Dearborn Heights. They earlier pleaded guilty to being accessories after the fact and were sentenced.
