HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a juvenile wanted for murder in the shooting of a teen last weekend at a public beach access area on Hilton Head Island has turned himself in.

Beaufort County deputies say the juvenile was turned over to investigators by his family Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators say the juvenile shot 17-year-old Dominique Williams at Coligny Beach Park on Sunday evening because he had lost a fight to Williams earlier. Deputies say about 100 teens were at the park when the shooting happened.

Authorities didn’t release any additional information about the suspect, including his age. He will be held in a Department of Juvenile Justice prison in Columbia while prosecutors and a judge review whether he should be tried as an adult. He has been charged in Family Court with murder.
