LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) - A pet owner who left his dog in his truck in hot weather has been cited by La Crosse police for cruelty to animals.

The La Crosse Tribune (https://bit.ly/1LpOxDA ) says the man left a window partly rolled down and a cup of water in the truck, but the dog was panting heavily in the vehicle where the temperature had reached 112 degrees.

The Coulee Region Humane Society says leaving animals in vehicles even for a few minutes in the hot weather can be dangerous and cause the pet to overheat.
