BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Forecasters say they expect a heat wave to continue in Alabama, prompting a heat advisory that covers most of the state.

The National Weather Service issued the heat advisory for Tuesday for parts of northern Alabama and all of central and south Alabama.

The advisory covers an area stretching from north of Birmingham and Gadsden in the northern part of the state all the way to the Gulf Coast. It includes Birmingham and most of the state’s major cities.

Forecasters are projecting high temperatures of around 95 in metro Birmingham; 96 in Montgomery; and 97 in Tuscaloosa.
