MILFORD, Del. (AP) - A Milford man has been accused of tampering with his ex-girlfriend’s brakes.

Milford police say 41-year-old Jean Gustave was arrested on July 5 and charged with first-degree reckless endangering and criminal mischief.

Detective Dwight Young says the 39-year-old victim did not know her brakes were damaged until she tried to drive the vehicle.

Police say after Gustave’s relationship with the woman ended, Gustave removed screws from the rear brake calipers of her car on June 29.

Young says Gustave told the woman he would do more damage to her vehicle the next time.

Gustave was released on a $5,100 unsecured bond. It was not immediately clear if he has hired an attorney who could comment on the charges.
