NAPAKIAK, Alaska (AP) - A 28-year-old southwest Alaska man is missing after a boat accident on the Johnson River.

Alaska State Troopers say Benjamin Beaver Jr. of Bethel and a juvenile were traveling from Napakiak (na-PAK’-ee-ak) to Atmautluak (at-MOWT’-loo-ak) when their boat struck a sandbar.

The boat sank.

Troopers took a call on the incident just before midnight Friday.

The juvenile made it to shore and was taken back to Napakiak.

Searchers found the sunken boat on the sandbar. A search for Beaver has continued.

Napakiak is on the north bank of the Kuskokwim River about 15 miles southwest of Bethel.
