BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - Yellowstone County authorities have identified a Ballantine shooting victim as the 35-year-old son of the suspect in the case.

Sheriff Mike Linder said 73-year-old James D. Sindelar of Ballantine was arrested Tuesday and being charged with negligent homicide in the killing of Wesley Sindelar.

Monday night’s shooting happened at a house on Thunderstick Road near Interstate 94. Ballantine is about 20 miles northeast of Billings.

Linder says officers and emergency medical personnel found the victim inside the house with an apparent gunshot wound. He died at the home.

Linder says the investigation into the shooting is continuing.
