ATLANTA (AP) - Media mogul, environmental crusader and America’s Cup winner Ted Turner now has his name on street signs.

Atlanta city officials, business leaders and others gathered on a sweltering Tuesday morning for the unveiling of Ted Turner Drive in downtown Atlanta.

City leaders earlier this year approved renaming a roughly 1.5 mile stretch of Spring Street after Turner.

Officials say the move was meant to honor Turner’s cultural and economic contributions to Atlanta. Several of Turner’s notable contributions to Atlanta - CNN Center, Turner Broadcasting System and Ted’s Montana Grill - are near the portion of the street named after him.

Mayor Kasim Reed said in a statement that Ted Turner Drive will become part of Atlanta’s history and its future. Turner said he was humbled by the honor.
