YAAK, Mont. (AP) - A Troy-area man died after falling off a cliff near the west fork of the Yaak River.

The Daily Inter Lake reports (https://bit.ly/1DrsJPK ) that 45-year-old Jesse Christopher Lowry was walking along a steep trail when he fell about 35 feet onto a hard rock surface.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office officials say a report of the fall came in around 6:50 p.m. Saturday. Officials say alcohol was a factor in the fall.

Upper Yaak Fire Chief Michael Sanders says Lowry had been dead for some time when rescuers responded to the report.
