BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. (AP) - The owner of a Vermont restaurant and her chefs are attempting to break the Guinness World Record for longest barbecue by grilling for 36 hours straight.

The Brattleboro Reformer reports (https://bit.ly/1HGLItz ) Shona Grill owner Kim Bovill and grillmasters Nick Moll and Dennis Kobel will begin barbecuing at 10 a.m. on July 31 and continue until 10 p.m. Aug. 1. The Bellows Falls group plans to up the current record of 30 hours to 36 hours.

Bovill says a former employee came up with the idea to break the record and she thought it would be fun.

The grillmasters will spend the 36 hours in a roped-off area with tables and tents outside, where they will cook burgers and hot dogs in addition to having pig and turkey roasts.
