MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont Department of Labor says the state’s unemployment rate was unchanged in June at 3.6 percent.

Vermont’s June unemployment rate compares to a national unemployment rate of 5.3 percent and is the fourth lowest rate in the nation

In June 2014, Vermont’s unemployment rate was 4.1 percent.

Unemployment in the state’s 17 labor markets ranged from a low of 2.9 percent in the Burlington-South Burlington area to a high of 5.3 percent in Derby.

Labor Commissioner Annie Noonan says that in the past 12 months, about 4,000 private sector jobs have been added in a number of different business sectors.
