MARYSVILLE, Ohio (AP) - The wife of an Ohio National Guardsman who was convicted of sexually abusing three adopted daughters has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for intimidation and obstruction of justice.

The woman’s attorney had argued for leniency, noting she wasn’t accused of assault or permitting sexual abuse. Her husband had been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole but plans to appeal.

The 37-year-old Marysville woman was sentenced Tuesday after earlier entering an Alford plea, maintaining innocence but acknowledging prosecutors had enough evidence to convict her.

Court documents say the mother of nine worked with counselors, regained custody of some of her children and is no longer under protective supervision from children’s services.

The Associated Press isn’t naming the couple to protect the children’s identities.
