MILTON, W.Va. (AP) - A Cabell County woman claiming self-defense has been sent behind bars for stabbing a man in the arm and back during a domestic incident.

WSAZ-TV (https://bit.ly/1MEPVzo ) reports that Crystal Strunk was arraigned Monday on a charge of second-degree murder following the Saturday stabbing of Shawn Winemiller in Milton.

Milton police say Winemiller gave officers a recorded statement Monday in which he said Strunk and himself had gotten into an argument.

Winemiller says that when he tried to leave, Strunk’s son chased him down and assaulted him. While the quarrel was still taking place, Winemiller says Strunk stabbed him multiple times in the arm.

When police arrived Saturday, Winemiller initially said he had been stabbed by an unknown attacker.

Strunk says she was acting in self-defense and was protecting her son.
