COLUMBIANA, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama teenager wanted in the slaying of his girlfriend earlier this month is now facing a trip back home following his arrest in California.

Federal marshals arrested 19-year-old Demarcus Lamar Means of Columbiana in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

They now want to return him back to Shelby County to face a murder charge in the slaying of 18-year-old Haleigh Green.

Green’s body was found near her car in a wooded area near Columbiana on July 11. An arrest warrant for Means was issued four days later.

It’s unclear how the teen made it to California, and authorities are trying to determine whether he had assistance.
