WEESAW TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say the death of a 68-year-old woman whose husband ran her over after their pickup truck lost part of its load of straw in southwestern Michigan is believed to be accidental.

The Berrien County sheriff’s department says Sandra Christopher of Sawyer died at the scene July 9 in Berrien County’s Weesaw Township.

Her 72-year-old husband was driving when the truck lost part of its load. The department says she got out of the passenger seat to collect straw and he backed into her. Authorities say straw was stacked high enough to cover the truck’s back window.

Undersheriff Chuck Heit tells the Kalamazoo Gazette (https://bit.ly/1OlZ68p ) investigators don’t suspect “anything intentional, by any means.” The investigation is ongoing, but Heit says it was “truly an accident.” Prosecutors will review the case.
