VENTURA, Calif. (AP) - A Camarillo man was cited after he was caught in a special enforcement operation designed to catch suspects driving away from court on suspended licenses.

The Ventura Count Star reports (https://bit.ly/1KkpgaQ ) that the man appeared Monday in court on DUI charges before getting behind the wheel to drive home on a suspended license.

Police say they staked out suspected DUI drivers, followed them to their vehicles to make sure they did not drive home and ticketed the man who did.

The operation was funded by the California Officer of Traffic Safety grant through the National Highway Transportation Administration.
