DE QUEEN, Ark. (AP) - The J. Lynn Helms Sevier County Airport in De Queen has been awarded an $870,000 federal grant to construct a taxiway and install taxiway lighting.

The grant was among 12 awarded to airports in Arkansas by the Department of Transportation to support facility upgrades and expansions.

The Texarkana Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1GE5fHk ) the funds awarded to De Queen represented the largest single grant among the 12. The total awarded through the grants was $3 million.

The De Queen airport has a variety of clients, including aircraft that fight timber fires and helicopters used for spraying fertilizer and insecticide for governmental and private companies, among others.
