TRUMBULL, Conn. (AP) - Fire officials say a Connecticut man was rescued after he became impaled on a ladder more than 10 feet in the air while cutting a tree.

Long Hill Fire Department officials say the Trumbull man was trimming a tree Tuesday night when he became trapped between two large limbs and impaled his leg on a ladder. He was suspended about 13 to 15 feet in the air.

It took rescuers nearly two hours to free the man, who officials say was conscious during the ordeal. Trauma doctors were also called in to help.

He was taken to a hospital for further treatment. His condition and identity have not been released.
