FRANKLINTON, La. (AP) - A former Bogalusa elected official has pleaded guilty to aggravated assault of a police officer for pointing a gun at officers who responded to a disturbance call at his home last year.

A news release from District Attorney Warren Montgomery’s office says state District Judge Richard Swartz of Washington Parish sentenced former City Councilman Daniel D. Stogner to a five-year suspended sentence and five years’ probation. He also was ordered to undergo a mental evaluation and pay a $1,000 fine plus court costs.

Stogner served on the city council from 1998 to 2010.
