OGDEN, Utah (AP) - A man accused of killing his girlfriend and leaving her to be found covered in snow in a Huntsville cemetery in 2008 has returned to Utah after almost six years of hiding in Mexico.

The Weber County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday that Gutberto Heras-Corrales has been extradited from Mexico and is now being held in the Weber County Jail on $500,000 cash-only bail.

Heras-Corrales is being held in connection to the slaying of 26-year-old Noemi Rodriguez. Rodriguez’s body was found covered in snow at the Huntsville Cemetery Dec. 26 2008. Heras-Corrales fled to Mexico shortly thereafter.

He is also facing charges in Davis County for burning down Rodriguez’s mobile home five days before her death.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on the charge of aggravated murder in Ogden Wednesday.
