POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a 37-year-old man has been fatally shot in Poughkeepsie, the Hudson Valley city’s sixth shooting in less than a month.

Detectives tell the Poughkeepsie Journal (https://pojonews.co/1TPSliN ) that the shooting occurred around 3 p.m. Tuesday on State Street. The man’s name hasn’t been released.

It was the city’s sixth shooting in 24 days. The first occurred June 28 when a 21-year-old New Windsor man was wounded in the leg.

A 21-year-old Poughkeepsie man was fatally shot two days later.

The other three shootings involved young men who were wounded but survived.
