ROCKTON, Ill. (AP) - The Winnebago County coroner’s office says a man found dead Saturday after a fire ravaged his home had been shot to death.

Coroner Sue Fiduccia said Tuesday that 67-year-old Henry Murphy was killed before the fire was set at his home near Rockton. Murphy’s dog was also shot to death.

The Rockford Register Star reports (https://bit.ly/1KjiAwk) Winnebago County Chief Deputy Mark Karner says no arrests have been made in the case. He also didn’t discuss a possible motive for the killing.

Fiduccia said she could not say how many times or where on the body Murphy was shot because of the ongoing investigation.
