OSWEGO, N.Y. (AP) - A trial date has been set for a 33-year-old central New York man charged with murder in the drowning death of a 17-year-old.

The trial for Steven Szatanek (zuh-TAN’-ehk) of Baldwinsville is set to start Nov. 16 in Oswego County Court. He’s charged with second-degree murder in the death of Anna-Rose Shove of the Wayne County town of Ontario. Her body was discovered last August on a beach near an RV campground where her family had been staying in Richland, 35 miles north of Syracuse.

Cause of death was ruled a drowning by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Szatanek, on parole for burglary, admits meeting the teen, but says he didn’t kill her. He’s being held in Oswego County Jail on $500,000 cash bail or $1 million bond.
